Jackson, MS. January 28, 2008 -2008
Stellar Award Winner Maurette Brown Clark (AIR Gospel / Malaco) released “One God” forty-one weeks ago and has enjoyed chart-topping status since that time. The single spent most of the last forty weeks in the #1 slot on Mediabase’s Indy charts and #2 on Billboard and Radio and Records’ industry charts. Pressing past Marvin Sapp’s history making single “Never Would Have Made It” & Kirk Franklin’s Declaration (This Is It), “One God” has become the number one song in the nation according to Mediabase’s Gospel chart tabulations this week. This is the first of the 3 major chart detecting systems.
“We are more than excited about the success of Maurette’s project. She has worked hard since the release of The Dream and has been extremely patient. She deserves the raves she receives at every concert and convention. I have had the privilege of working with some of the finest artists in gospel music history during my career and Maurette is no exception,” declares D.A. Johnson, Executive Director of Malaco Music Group’s Gospel division. “We are looking forward to even more excitement as we release the next single.”
Maurette Brown Clark and daughter Jada, who performed on The Dream with her mother, both took home Stellar Awards during the 23rd annual Stellar Award show, January 12, 2008.

2 Out Of 3 Malaco Quartets Earn Stellar Nominations
Jackson, MS. January 9, 2007-
After a year-long push to bring traditional gospel quartets back into the Gospel Mainstream with their ‘Yes! Quartet!’ campaign, the response is rewarding: two 2008 Stellar Award nominations.
Slim & The Supreme Angels and The Pilgrim Jubilees are both nominated in the Quartet of the Year category for The Judgement and Jesus Got Me Off, respectively. Both projects are on the Malaco Records label and comprise two of the three new releases of the ‘Yes! Quartet’ Campaign. The third release was Spencer Taylor & The Highway Qc’s, Hasn’t Always Been Easy which also was received with critical acclaim.
The Stellar Awards will be held on January 12, 2008 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. Hosts for this prestigious event are CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin and Byron Cage.
Slim and the Supreme Angels have recorded fifteen albums since their beginning, in 1969. Though former sharecropper Howard Hunt (a.k.a. Slim) passed away in March of this year, the group continues to perform, carrying on the mission set forth by Hunt.
