Malaco Music Group partners with peermusic

Malaco staff gathered for a breakfast* to celebrate the newly-formed partnership with peermusic. peermusic has taken over administration of our extensive publishing catalog, which includes Malaco's Gospel and R & B hits as well as hits from the Muscle Shoals Sound catalog.

On hand to share in the festivities was Ralph Peer, Chairman and CEO, and his wife, Liz, Kathy Spanberger, President & Chief Operating Officer- peermusic Anglo American Region, and Kevin Lamb, Vice President of the Nashville office.

Also in attendance was songwriter, George Jackson.

*The breakfast was catered by Lovie Sanders, whose home cooked food had everybody going back for seconds (and truth be told, thirds)! Lovie was blown into Jackson by Hurricane Katrina, but New Orleans loss is Jackson's gain!

BREAKING NEWS: "Tribute To Bobby"

Yes, our very own Bobby "Blue" Bland!

English singer/songwriter Mick Hucknall, who formed the group Simply Red, recently brought the band together to record a new album entitled "Tribute To Bobby" to be released in 2008.

The upcoming album has twelve quintessential Bobby "Blue" Bland tracks. Hucknall and his band infuse a distinctive groove into the tunes that Bobby made classics. They breathe new life into the songs that will mesmerize old fans and catch the attention of new fans, too.

Tracks include "Stormy Monday Blues," "Too Far Gone," "Farther On Up The Road" and "I Wouldn't Treat A Dog."

Mick and the band are travelling to Memphis and will be meeting Bobby in person Wednesday. Don't forget the BBQ while you're travelling through, boys.

Mick is a huge fan of Bobby's and they will be filming their visit together.

We wish them great success for this album - and also appreciate the shout out for Bobby!
